Fentanyl Deaths May Be Going Down

An update on fentanyl deaths. They may be going down. In a statement released January 11th 2023 from the White House, for the fifth month in a row overdose deaths have been going down in the United States, and while they attribute it to the Biden administration doing an excellent job of making antidotes available and doing drug education, and dealing with the cartels, it could also be because of the rainbow fentanyl as I predicted in September of 2022.

In one of my first blog posts Rainbow Fentanyl May End Overdoses, I suggested that most of the fentanyl overdoses can more properly be identified as fentanyl poisonings because the people did not know they were taking fentanyl. Before rainbow fentanyl, fentanyl was being laced into counterfeit pills that were stamped to look like things like oxycodone and many other prescription pills, not just painkillers. People took them thinking that they were the real thing and would overdose accidentally. This accounted for more than 50,000 Americans being poisoned by fentanyl in 2020 alone.

So at least the data in January of 2023 says that in general overdoses are going down for the last 5 months, and that is the first time in years of dealing with fentanyl. Hopefully it really does have to do with the rainbow fentanyl being identifiable as fentanyl. Because of the rainbow colors people at raves can take it, and as long as it has been dosed to a standardized dose in Mexico, then people can take it and if they're not sure they can handle it, they can break it in half, because they're still using the old M30 pills, but instead of being pale blue like the real thing it could be any color now, and so people should know that they're dealing with fentanyl.

There were also large pieces of fentanyl that looked like sidewalk chalk, and that seemed very sketchy as far as being able to come up with a dose, since it wasn't predosed, so that is probably still a problem and may be causing overdoses, but the majority of the fentanyl in September of 2022 was the pre-made pills. Hopefully that continues, and hopefully they're using a standardized dose in Mexico, and we continue to see the drug overdose numbers fall back to pre-fentanyl numbers.
