Trump Arrest Is More Free Advertising

     As soon as Donald Trump won the 2016 election for President it was calculated that he had received around $5 billion dollars worth of free advertising from the Democrat Party mainstream media constantly saying his name. In sales there is the concept that there is no such thing as bad press, or there's no such thing as bad advertising. In fact Hillary Clinton chose the phrase "Love trumps hate," as her main campaign slogan in 2016, giving Trump even more free advertising than he would have had if anyone on the Democratic side had been a little smarter.

     The only reason Joe Biden won in 2020 is because they allowed almost everyone in the United States to vote from home during the pandemic. Never before in America did over 155 million people walk into the polls or request mail from home ballots. Before 2020 the most any presidential candidate had ever received was in 2012 with Obama who received slightly under 70 million votes out of over 129 million total votes, about 58% of the eligible voting age population at the time. Around 137.5 million total votes were cast in 2016, around 59% of the eligible voting age population, and again Obama received less than 70 million votes.

     Then in 2020 a combination of factors led to the highest voter turnout in the history of the United States. Two main factors came into play, first the pandemic was on and most states that had any kind of Democrat control sent mail from home ballots to everyone they could, and second, in the spring of 2020 someone at the Supreme Court leaked that the court would be overturning Roe v Wade, and so there were 6 months worth of street protesting before the 2020 election, and all of the liberal Democrats and feminists all really wanted to vote. In the case of Michigan it drove voters to the polls to overturn existing state law that banned abortion, and federally it drove up to 13 million extra people to vote for Joe Biden, resulting in a total voter turnout of almost 160 million in 2020, which is 67% of the eligible voting age population, and more than 23 million more votes than in 2016. In 2020 Trump received over 74 million votes, while Biden received over 81 million votes, more than 7 million more votes. 

     Since the pandemic is no longer on, Republicans have controlled mail-in voting in most states, and the abortion issue is no longer in people's minds, don't expect 67% of the population to show up and vote in 2024, in fact if you average the last 10 presidential elections before 2020 the average voter turnout was around 57%, a full 10% less than in 2020. Other than mail-in voting during the pandemic and the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, can you think of any other reasons why Joe Biden might have received 11 million more votes than Obama? With supply chain issues, bank collapses, inflation, the beginnings of a recession, and a proxy war in the Ukraine, it is doubtful that Joe Biden will receive the same 11 million extra votes he did last time.

     But Trump should receive all 74 million votes that he did last time and maybe he could pick up another few million. Trump received 10.1 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 when he won, not because of mail-in voting, and not because of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, but simply because he earned them. Not only did Biden beat Obama's previous record in 2020, but Trump also beat Obama's previous record for most votes cast for president in 2020.

     Today Donald Trump is supposed to be indicted in New York, a one week delay from the previous Tuesday that he had tweeted. So for the last 10 straight days Donald Trump has owned and controlled the entire news cycle, which means millions and millions more in free advertising for him for the 2024 election. If Donald Trump received five billion dollars worth of free advertising in the run-up to the 2016 election, and he announced about a year before the election, maybe he is receiving $5 billion dollars a year in free advertising whether he is in office or not. If so from 2015 through 2023 Donald Trump has received somewhere around $40 billion worth of free advertising, and arresting him or indicting him will just continue this cycle. If there's a picture of him in handcuffs or any other exploitable image, I think that the Democrats will have created a full-on martyr, a martyr with 74 million loyal and patriotic supporters, and with 5 billion dollars a year worth of free advertising.
