Psychedelics versus Big Pharma

Psychedelics versus Big Pharma

President Trump signed the "Accelerating Medical Treatments for Serious Mental Illness" Executive Order today, Saturday, April 18, 2026. This historic move marks a total shift in how the United States treats addiction, depression and mental illness. The order specifies two primary emergencies that this new policy is designed to solve: the epidemic of veteran suicide and the mass death caused by opioid overdoses. During the signing, President Trump quoted the staggering fact that 21 times as many veterans commit suicide as die in war totalling nearly 6,000 per year, while Joe Rogan noted that 80,000 people died of opioid overdoses in 2024 alone and quoted that 5 to 6 million Americans are currently addicted to opiods. Alongside HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the President's E.O. bypasses the pharmaceutical lobby's control over brain health by focusing on the neuroplasticity produced by psychedelics.

The Dogma of the Two Year Old Brain

For decades, the medical establishment operated under the false belief that neuroplasticity effectively ends by the age of two. Doctors taught that once you were past being a baby your brain’s neural pathways were incapable of change. This was a convenient and profitable lie. It was used to justify a lifetime of management through patented chemicals rather than actual neurological repair.

Today's order acknowledges that this was a lie. Psychedelics like ibogaine and psilocybin are known to end depression, alcoholism and drug addiction by creating neuroplasticity in adults that allows the brain to physically form new neural pathways which bypass the pathways that keep people looping or cycling in depressive or addictive thoughts. It is a biological overhaul that the pharmaceutical industry has intentionally suppressed because they cannot profit from a brain that is actually healed and no longer needs their products.

The Specificity of Psilocybin and Liberty Caps

It is important to distinguish the substances being discussed. Psilocybin is the psychedelic ingredient found in magic mushrooms, but the delivery matters. Liberty Caps are the smallest and most concentrated variety. Because of their potency, they are ideal for microdosing. Unlike larger psychedelic cubensis mushrooms that can cause gastrointestinal distress, liberty caps do not affect the stomach in a negative way, making them a more viable tool for microdosing without the physical side effects of nausea.

Ending the Nixon Era Suppression

The prohibition of these substances traces back to the Nixon administration and the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. For nearly sixty years, the government used these rules to make it effectively illegal to study the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. By classifying them as Schedule I, the medical establishment ensured that no federal funding or legitimate research could prove their efficacy. This created a dark age for mental health where the only legal options were the ones that made the pharmaceutical industry rich.

This suppression was not an accident. The pharmaceutical lobby is the largest and most powerful lobby in Washington, DC. They have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to influence the FDA and keep these disruptive treatments off the market. Their entire business model for more than 50 years has relied on the 20 percent of American women on antidepressants, and the 5 to 6 million Americans addicted to opioids. They have a vested interest in slowing down or killing any drug that could actually fix the brain, so a cured patient is a lost customer to Big Pharma, which does not want to lose its customers.

The Superior Track Record of Ibogaine and Psilocybin

The data shows that these substances are far more effective than anything the pharmaceutical industry has ever produced. Joe Rogan specifically quoted the statistics for ibogaine during the discussion today. After one single dose of ibogaine, 80 percent of people addicted to opioids were no longer addicted, and a follow-up second dose moved that success rate to 90 percent. It works by hitting a complex array of receptors including NMDA, opioid, and nicotinic receptors to reset dopamine and serotonin levels to a pre-addiction state within 36 to 48 hours. Because there have been some cardiac issues with ibogaine use, they want to administer it in hospitals so that they can monitor the patients.

Psilocybin also shows incredible success rates that have been known for generations. Clinical studies show that psilocybin has a 60 percent to 80 percent success rate for alcohol cessation, tobacco addiction, and major depression. This legacy goes all the way back to the very first study done on other professors at Harvard by Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (later known as Ram Dass). Before their famous work with LSD they used synthetic psilocybin ordered from a laboratory in Europe. A few of the professors later self-reported that while they had been alcoholics before the dose, after one single dose of psilocybin they had lost the desire to drink alcohol. The neuroplasticity triggered by the psilocybin allowed their brains to break the cycle of alcoholism with one single dose. While today’s order finally allows for proper laboratory testing of LSD, it was psilocybin that proved the "one and done" potential 60 years ago.

The Attack on Joe Rogan and the Institutional Lies

Joe Rogan’s presence at the White House today is a major victory against a medical establishment that has spent years using lies to attack his credibility. They tried to cancel Rogan because he was a threat to their monopoly on health information. During the height of COVID-19, Rogan openly advocated for a "kitchen sink" approach to treatment including Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, and Ivermectin, along with other protocols like Monoclonal Antibodies and NAD drips.

They abused and lampooned him even before vaccines were available, proving the objective was to silence any voice that challenged the institutional narrative. Despite the fact that Ivermectin is one of the most prescribed human medicines in history and was prescribed to Rogan by his doctor, the establishment branded it a "horse dewormer" to scare the public. Today, Rogan is standing in the Oval Office because the administration is finally acknowledging the truth he has been telling: the pharmaceutical industry is suppressing effective treatments to keep people addicted to their products.

The Panel: From Magical Thinking to Medical Reality

The tension of this shift was visible during the signing ceremony today. The event featured a large group standing in a line behind Trump including two female doctors in white lab coats with gray hair. The first doctor said that she had been a proponent of psychedelics for medical use for the last 10 years, using the term "one and done." This term describes treatments that provide a permanent solution after a single application, directly threatening the recurring revenue model of Big Pharma and lifelong prescriptions.

The second doctor admitted that ten years ago she was an opponent of psychedelics in medicine and had dismissed the reported results as "magical thinking," but has completely come around because of the last five years or so of undeniable research showing that psychedelics do work, and in a one and done manner. Regardless of her previous skepticism, she now fully supports these treatments because the data has proven that the "magical" results are actually grounded in the hard science of neuroplasticity. Seeing the success of the one and done cures for mental illness, she even speculated that one and done cures could be developed for every other disease including cancer, showing that she still doesn't understand that this is all just about psychedelics and the power of neuroplasticity, and that mental illness is not like physical illnesses, so this doesn't apply to cancer or any other disease other than mental illness, including depression, anxiety, alcoholism and drug addiction.

Breaking the Stranglehold through Right to Try

By using the Right to Try Act, the administration is declaring that anyone suffering from addiction or suicidal depression is desperately ill. This legal designation allows these patients to bypass the FDA's slow walked trials and the pharmaceutical lobby's roadblocks.

With RFK Jr. at HHS and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche overseeing the rollout, the administration is protecting these treatments from the same medical establishment that tried to destroy Joe Rogan. The goal is no longer to sell a daily pill. It is to use the mechanism of neuroplasticity to physically rewire the American brain and end the cycle of state sponsored addiction once and for all.

Can You Legally Order Liberty Caps Through the Mail?

Under the Right to Try Act, the answer is a qualified yes, provided you meet the specific legal criteria established in today's order. If you are currently prescribed antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or opioids, the administration now considers your condition "life-threatening" enough to qualify for Right to Try access.

  • Legal Ordering: The executive order directs the FDA and the DEA to establish a pathway for eligible patients to acquire these substances. This bypasses the standard criminal penalties for possession for those who are registered under the program, effectively allowing for the legal distribution of substances like liberty caps for medical purposes.
  • Microdosing vs. Macrodosing: The law does not distinguish between doses. If you have the right to try, you have the right to use the substance in the manner prescribed by a supporting physician, whether that is a macro session for a one-and-done reset or a consistent microdosing with liberty caps to create neuroplasticity.
  • The Caveat: While the federal government is opening this door, you should still ensure your provider is operating under the new federal guidelines to avoid interference from lower-level state authorities in non-decriminalized zones.

Conclusion

This Executive Order represents a monumental defeat for the pharmaceutical industry's decades long grip on the American healthcare system. By acknowledging the biological reality of neuroplasticity and clearing the bureaucratic hurdles designed to protect corporate profits, the administration has fundamentally changed the future of mental health. The move from chronic, life long medication to effective, one and done treatments marks the beginning of an era where healing is prioritized over symptom management. The inclusion of figures like Joe Rogan and RFK Jr. serves as a stark reminder that the days of institutional gaslighting and state sponsored addiction are coming to an end.
